Gardening

This year we tried 2 different methods;
(1) Tilled up the dirt and prepared it with manure and top soil.
(2)We built an easy square foot gardening box and put 'Mel's Mix' in it.

Here are some before pictures from last year before I started gardening,
and after pictures from May 2007.

BEFORE
AFTER
Here's the tilled ground:

I have corn ears!

How tall the corn is. (My hubby is 5'11)

Purple Tomato on left, Lemon Boy on right

Front: Zucchini, then Crook Neck Squash,
In the back is Burbless Cucumbers & Armenian Cucumbers.

Pole Beans, then my Grape Tomato's

I have tried all different kinds of Methods now:
Raised bed, till prepared ground, and the Square Foot.

I like them all but for totally different reasons!

Each person needs to try different ways and see which they like the best for the result they are looking for.
I like to get INTO the garden so tilling is good for that, but for FAST EVEN growth I pick the square foot, plus with the Square foot method you can plant more and use less seeds! No fertilizing either cause it's in the mix!

And then we have the Square Foot Garden Method

Yup...they like Mel's Mix!

They all seemed to grow SO fast!

Seems like a good idea to use the square foot garden!
