Cookies in a Jar
For those of you who don't want to fight your way through the Mall's or Dept
stores, here's and idea that might be right for you. It's the perfect gift for
those hard to buy for and less expensive then that sweater for Aunty Chilly or
the tie for Uncle Clash. Here's what you do:
1. Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
2. Alternate layers of dry ingredients and M&M's in FOUR 1-quart canning jars. ( Flour mix, brown sugar, M&M's, Oats then start your layer over again)
3. Screw Lids on tightly and tie tags with instructions around each jar. (Instructions follows Recipe)
Recipe: Oatmeal M&M Cookies
5 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 cups rolled oats
2 cups brown sugar (DO NOT mix in with dry ingredients)
4 cups M&M's
TAG Instructions:
Beat 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 egg, and 1tsp. vanilla extract in a medium bowl intil light and fluffy. Stir in contents of ONE jar. Place heaping teaspoonsful of dough on parchment-lines cookie sheets and bake at 350degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cookies cool, then enjoy.

Fudgy Pecan Brownies
Layer in jar (tap on counter between layer additions to settle):
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder (wipe inside of jar after this layer)
3/4 cup flour
pinch of salt
1/2 cup finely ground pecans
1/2 cup miniature semi sweet chocolate chips
Attached TAG instructions:
Empty brownie ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir. Add 3/4 cup melted butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 4 well-beaten eggs; mix until well combined. Spread batter in a greased 8 by 8 or 9 by 9 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 27-30 minutes.
